General Guidelines

Entering the Monthly Competition: At the beginning of the meeting place your prints and slides in the appropriate categories. Entries to be digitally projected must be eMailed to the projectionist prior to the meeting date.

Number of Entries: Members may show a total of four(4) entries in the monthly competition. A maximum of two(2) Topic of the Month entries are allowed, and the other entries (up to 4) can be distributed in the other categories - Traditional Image or Enhanced Image.

Awards and HMs: Roughly 20% of thie top scoring images will be given an Award or an Honorable Mention. Images that score a 5 will receive an Award designation. If there are fewer than 3 images in a category, no awards will be given unless an image scores a 5.

Print Specifications: 26 inches is the tallest object that will fit in the light box. Glass and frames are discouraged. Prints should have the maker's name, title and indication of the UP direction on the back of the print. The minimum print size is 8" x 10".

Digital Spcifications:

Maximum vertical dimension - 768 pixels.

Maximum horizontal dimension - 768 pixels.

Panorama maximum horizontal dimension 1024 pixels, and maximum vertical dimension 525 pixels.

Image format: JPEG (no larger than 350Kb compressed size).

Naming: Each image must have a title that includes the name of the image and the entry category. For example an image titled "Red Car" entered into the Digital Traditional (DT) category would have the file name Red_Car_DT. Do not include your name or initials in the title so that judging can be done without knowledge of the image maker. (But, do include your name in the EXIF data so the maker can be identified once the judging is completed). Also, make sure that the total number of characters of the image name, including spaces, is no more that 31.

Slide Specifications: Place a large dot in the lower left hand corner of the slide mount to indicate the correct horizontal or vertical orientation. this aids the slide projectionist in loading the slide tray. Place your name and the title of the image on the slide mount.
